Reading term 1 week 8

Hi so today I will be explaining what me and my class have been learning for reading.

So first we all did a test to see watch group we are in. If you did good you would be in Crown and if you did alright you would be in passion. But if you did really good and got them all right you would be in the cross group with all the hard stuff to learn about Jesus and stuff about easter and good friday.

I have learned lots of stuff like the entrance procession is in silence; there is no cross-bearer; no candles; no greeting; there will be no dismissal rite at the end.

Then comes the high point of the Easter Triduum. The community gathers for the Easter Vigil. This celebrates the heart of the Christian faith – whakapono, “dying you destroyed our death, rising you restored our life”. The church is in darkness.

And many more facts too.

Have you ever learned about Easter Sunday and the Triduum

Amazing advent calendar

Hello today I will be telling you about my advent calendar.

Advent starts on Dec 1st and ends on 24th which is on Christmas Eve because on the 25th its Christmas day.

Did you know that the advent calendar has two purple and one pink candle.

What we had to do for the advent calendar was do something useful for twenty four says in a row for example clean my bird cage or something more simple like open the door for someone.

Have you ever made a advent calendar???

Sumner beach

Last week me and the people that picked sumner beach went to sumner. when we got there it was so cold and windy, so windy that leaves were flying at my feet and some sand was going in my eyes. Than we sat down on the bench and they split us into groups the year 7 boys with year 8 girls and the year 7 girls with the year 8 boys. We went with this guy(I forgot his name) and they other team got a girl(I forgot her name) First he took us behind the sand dunes and said huddle around this circle I made, Now he was telling us about the sand dunes and how they can not be taken down and if they do they can cause sand storms and roofs on houses collapse because of how heavy the sand could get on the top of the roof. Apparently He said that this one lady had so much sand on their roof it collapses down on top of their house and crushed their Tv and stuff that are expensive. Than he said go make a sand dune and gave us about 10 mins to do that ours was quite tall but not even close to the tallest and the best. Than he told us about the animals of the sand dunes and in sumner beach. my favorite animals was the black winged sea gull and the mice that lives in the dunes. We actually saw the mice and it was on some ones bag and trying to get in mine.  Next we had to decorate our sand dune and ours was pretty good but some people had a full on like display and stuff. Than we got a chance to keep it there or smash it and we all smashed  it and it was like a all out war because people were trying to break ours and we were trying to break there one to. Now we were going on the bus back to school.

have You ever been on a field trip to a beach?

Brown Garden Snail

For writing we were learning about insects and you could pick any insect. Me and my friend picked the Brown Garden Snail for ours. We found out that The brown Garden snail lives in Europe, south america and Oceania.

Fun fact the snail is one of the slowest animals in the world really close to a sloths speed.

The snail is apart of the Herbicidal family.

Have you ever learned about snails?

5 days of easter

This week was Holy week when Jesus died and rose from the dead. For our create we had to create something to show the five days of easter so my group did a Minecraft world of the 5 Easter days. then we took a screenshot of them and put them on a Google slide. The photos are not working sorry.

The super science roadshow

Title: Science Roadshow

Yesterday we had a visit from the Science Roadshow. The focus of the session was Sound Waves.

Some of the main messages about Sound Waves were if you were in a car and honking and going fast down a strait long road it will be louder than it will start to disapere till there is no sounds left and that means you can not hear the sound of the honking car.

Something I enjoyed the most was when me and Jaxson were stuck together at the front of the show case and that meant i pulled really hard and i absolutely man handed him.

My favorite part of the Science Roadshow was when they lit the big metal pipe on fire and they were screaming because it made it go higher by the girls voice that was acting like a evil villain making a evil plot.

Something I will take away from this visit was that I know how long the human can hair up to is 10 or 25,000 because when your young you can hear more than you can more when your younger than older

What happens when the loudest car horn travels further?

Fantastic PBL

The driving question for our PBL over Term 2 and part of this Term has be en, “How can we as performing artists communicate positive messages to an audience?”

We learnt about The Arts, in particular the elements of Dance, Drama and Music. We read a number of fables nad fairy tales and learnt about their positive message. We then took this learning and applied it to our own play writing script.

In my group there was Noah-Grace, Ashlynn, Ryder and Josh K and we planned out what our script, and fairy tale was going to be. Click here to see our planning document.

Once we had planned our ideas, we started to write our playwriting script. The fairy tale that our play is based on is Hansel and Gretel. The positive message that we wanted the audience to take away was to not trust strangers and be careful because you could get kidnapped.

The Google Slide shows everyone’s performance in Tumu, my group’s performance is on slide seven and we are really proud of it.

Something that I enjoyed about this project was that me and my friend were working together because I normally am not with a friend and sometimes it gets really boring for me.

Something that I found challenging or would change about this project was working all together because I didn’t really get along with everyone.

I am most proud of this project because I think I did really good acting and I think it shares a good message to not trust strangers.

Super Fun science

Hi welcome to my blog post about science.

We have been learning about battery power and squishy circuits.

Me and my friend budded up and we found it really easy because it wasn’t the first time we had to do that.

So we started at the torch were we had to make a torch out of tinfoil battery’s tape wires and a light bulb.

We had to wrap the wires in the tin foil and tape the two battery’s together than put wires at the top of the battery and the bottom of the battery. Than all you have to do is put the wires on the light bulb on the top than the light will start and you are done.

At school have you done science at school?
